Art on the Square
Join Us for our first annual Tulip Tree LIVE Art competition.

The Tulip Tree, a restaurant and art gallery located in the heart of downtown, is proud to be hosting and sponsoring a public art competition.

Artists must be 18 years of age and live within Spartanburg County. Artwork can be from any medium but must be two-dimensional. To be considered, artists must submit an application  during the month of August and must include at least one image of a current work.

See online application below.

Artists will be notified of selection on September 14th.

Artists will be given a $100 stipend for materials and canvases. Only 20″x24″ to 36″x36″ canvases will be allowed or accepted.

  • The created piece must be two-dimensional
  • Artists must provide their own easel and materials.
  • Artists must not block traffic or pedestrian traffic when setting up station.
  • Station set up may begin at 11:30 a.m. with competition time beginning at precisely noon sharp. Work on the piece before noon will be an automatic disqualification.
  • The created piece must incorporate something within Morgan Square as the subject. (Abstract pieces will be allowed so long as the subject is recognizable as something from Morgan Square.)

Only one piece per artist will be considered by the judges.

All judged pieces will be placed in a silent auction immediately after the judging. A percentage will go to the artists and proceeds will be divided between the Artist’s Collective and the Artists’ Guild Spartanburg.
